From Uncertainty to Strength: A Lung Cancer Survivor's Story

In 2018, 56-year-old woman Faustina Anakwa from Ghana's Eastern Region received news that changed her life: she was diagnosed with lung cancer. What began as a health concern quickly became a reality that demanded immediate and ongoing treatment. Instead of planning for the years ahead with peace of mind, she found herself preparing for hospital visits, medical tests, and difficult conversations about survival.

Lung cancer required long-term care, not a single procedure, but years of regular appointments, medication, monitoring, and the emotional weight of not knowing what each new result might show. The physical toll was heavy and the emotional strain was even heavier.

For more than six years, she has lived with this diagnosis, facing days filled with fear and moments of exhaustion and uncertainty. Yet she made a decision to keep going. She committed to her treatment plan, attended every appointment, and refused to let the diagnosis define the rest of her life.
